Strange fortune-telling rituals

Some of the rituals of fortune telling: On the night of Ihya, while reciting the prayer of Joshen Kabir, Yazdi women would tie 100 knots on a rope and hang it around the neck of the unlucky girl to open her fortune. To open her fortune, the people of Tehran would write verses on a bowl and bathe with the water from that bowl.
