The Argentine leader of the Cuban Revolution was arrested and killed in Bolivia in 1967. The exact location of his body was kept secret for years until in 1995, it was revealed by a Bolivian general involved in his arrest that his body was buried next to an airport runway near where he had been killed.
Two years later, his body was exhumed and returned to Cuba to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his death. His body is now housed in the Che Guevara Mausoleum and Museum, which is open to visitors. However, questions have been raised as to whether the correct body was actually exhumed in 1997.
