The CDC recommends the following steps to reduce the risk of HMPV and other respiratory illnesses:

-Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

-Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands

-Wear masks in crowded places wherever there is outbreak

-Stay home when sick so that spreading of virus can be prevented

-Regularly clean frequently touched surfaces
