The country star was adopted as an infant and raised outside of Jackson, Mississippi, with two older brothers. Her first foray into the music world was singing in the Baptist church her family belonged to. The rest, as they say, is history. Country singer Faith Hill is a major advocate for adoption due in part to the success of her own. "I was adopted into this incredible home, a loving, positive environment, yet I had this yearning, this kind of darkness that was also inside me,” she toldGood Housekeeping in 2007. After taking time out from music in the '90s to find her biological family, the "This Kiss" singer said everything fell into place.

"I have a lot of respect for my birth mother and no feeling of anger or any of that," she said. "I know she must have had a lot of love for me to want to give me what she felt was a better chance."
