Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny Killed Using Poison from South American Dart Frog, Foreign Offices Allege
Native tribes in South America are said to use the poison in their hunting arrows or spears. Russian officials have previously claimed that Navalny’s death was not suspicious and was the result of “a combination of illnesses,” including an irregular heartbeat. British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said the four countries were working together with “serious and determined determination” to find the truth. He says:
The results of a joint investigation by the UK, Sweden and other partners have shown that a deadly toxin was found in the body of Alexei Navalny.
The toxin was identified and found to come from a species of Ecuadorian dart frog. British scientists at the Porton Down laboratory played a key role in uncovering the plot.
