Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny Killed Using Poison from South American Dart Frog, Foreign Offices Allege

A statement from the British Foreign Office called the attack “brutal and barbaric” and a clear violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. In a joint statement, Britain, Sweden, France, Germany and the Netherlands stressed that laboratory results confirmed that Navalny had been poisoned with the deadly poison epibatidine, rejecting Russia’s claim that he died of natural causes.

The governments said Moscow had the means, motive and opportunity to carry out the attack and had violated the Chemical Weapons Convention. They warned:

We are concerned that Russia has not destroyed all of its chemical weapons.
