Oliver Cromwell

The body of the English soldier and statesman, who died in 1658, was buried in Westminster Abbey after being embalmed and buried. When the monarchy returned to England, his body and that of two others were exhumed and their heads cut off. His body is said to have been dumped in a ditch near the execution site, near the Marble Arch area of ​​present-day London. His head was placed on a bar and displayed on top of Westminster Palace. During the eighteenth century, collectors followed his head. This head was examined in 1815 and its belonging to Cromwell was confirmed.
