Tesla Motors takes its name from the 19th century genius and inventor Nikola Tesla, who is famous for his inventions and innovations in the field of electromagnetism. When people think of the person who founded Tesla, that person is Elon Musk. But Musk wasn't there from the beginning; he was an early investor in the company and didn't become CEO until five years after it was founded.
