  The history of photography in Iran dates back to the reign of Nasser-al-Din Shah. The presentations of this era featured the traditional lifestyle of that time, and the illumination of that era for the historical studies of the nineteenth century has been documented by Iranian experts.

Soraya Esfandiary-Bakhtiary (22 June 1932 – 26 October 2001) was the queen consort (Shahbanu) of Iran as the second wife of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, whom she married in 1951.

One of the Empress Farah’s main initiatives was founding Pahlavi University, which was meant to improve the education of Iranian women, and was the first American style university in Iran; before then, Iranian universities had always been modeled on the French style. The Empress wrote in 1978 that her duties were:

Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (26 October 1919 – 27 July 1980), also known as Mohammad Reza Shah, was the last Shah of Iran from 16 September 1941 until his overthrow by the Iranian Revolution on 11 February 1979.
