Bijan Mofid (May 31, 1935 – November 12, 1984) was an influential Iranian playwright and stage director. His most famous work, Shahr-e Ghesseh, is an allegorical satire written in the form of a musical play using elements of Iranian folklore, for which he also composed the music.

Shakila Mohseni Sedaghat, known as Shakila (born May 3, 1962), is an Iranian American singer-songwriter based in San Diego, California. She is an international artist who has performed in various languages including Persian, Kurdish, English, Turkish, Hindi, and Spanish. She has won a Persian Music Academy Award in 2006 and a Global Music Award in 2015.

Bibi Khānoom Astarābādi (1858/9 – 1921) was a notable Iranian writer, satirist, and one of the pioneering figures in the women’s movement of Iran. At the age of 22, Bibi Khatoon married Musa Khan Vaziri who was a prominent official in the Persian Cossack Brigade.

The Plasco Building was a 17-story high-rise landmark building in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. At the time of its construction in the 1960s, it was the tallest building in Iran and was considered an iconic part of the Tehran skyline. The building collapsed on 19 January 2017 during a high-rise fire.
