Coming from northern Italy, the most expensive mushrooms in the world are able to drive anyone crazy for their pungent aroma and moist nut flavor, which are hard to describe. They are only available a few months of the year - Sep to Dec - and they are obtained exclusively with the help of the dogs and pigs trained to search for them underground. No one has succeeded in cultivating or replicating the white truffle and because of soil erosion and global warming, there is increasingly less.
