
One of the earliest stars to insure a body part was Ben Turpin, the cross-eyed comedian from the silent film era. According to insurance firm Lloyd's of London, Turpin insured his eyes in case they ever became uncrossed. The policy was for $25,000, which is over $300,000 in today's money.
