COLONIA DIGNIDAD TORTURED CHILDREN Colonia Dignidad, founded in 1961 by ex-Nazi Paul Schäfer in Chile, was a self-sufficient commune that devolved into a site of torture and child abuse. Around 300 residents were subjected to surveillance, forced labor, and sexual abuse, with the commune later becoming a concentration camp under dictator Augusto Pinochet, where about 100 people were murdered.
