The idea for Kalshi struck during late-night walks from their intern apartments in New York's Financial District in 2018. But more than 40 law firms refused to represent them, calling the founders 'too young,' until former CFTC insider Jeff Bandman finally agreed to guide them. Kalshi won federal approval in 2020 - while blockchain competitor Polymarket was fined $1.4million for operating unregistered markets.
