Ballerina, 29, becomes the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire – after ditching her dancing and taking an ‘insane’ risk

She eventually swapped pointe shoes for computer science, moving alone to the US at 17 to study at MIT. Lara co-founded the Kalshi platform in 2017 with her MIT classmate Tarek Mansour, who also became a millionaire at 29. But it was not an easy path, as the billionaire recalled the 'insane' risk the pair took while getting Kalshi off the ground. 'Right out of college, we were taking on an insane amount of risk. It was two years without a single product—nothing launched—and if we didn't get regulated, the company would just go to zero,' she told Forbes.
