Sarcosuchus was the largest crocodile to ever live:
Sarcosuchus, or *Sarcosuchus imperator*, was one of the largest crocodiles ever, living around 110 million years ago during the Early to Late Cretaceous Epoch. It reached lengths of up to 40 feet and weighed nearly 9 tons. With a 6-foot-long jaw, it was capable of preying on smaller dinosaurs and other crocodilians. Like modern crocodiles, Sarcosuchus lurked near water to ambush its prey.
