In 1995, the ashes of Marie Curie and her husband Pierre were transferred from a small cemetery to the Pantheon in Paris. This was done to commemorate the life and services of Marie Curie. The Polish-born scientist won two Nobel Prizes for his research on the history of nuclear radiation. He contracted leukemia from radiation exposure and died in 1934.
